Ensembles and extreme rainfall forecasts over the western Maritime Continent
Extreme rainfall events are difficult to forecast because of the chaotic nature of the atmosphere. Single model trajectories often show a hit-or-miss weather event over different locations and cannot fully represent the associated uncertainty of the forecast. This seminar will introduce the benefit of using ensembles for extreme rainfall prediction over the western Maritime Continent through recent case studies.
