AGGERES, founded in 2011, analyses the problems of flooding from the customers’ perspective and brings tailor-made solutions to market for the private sector and the public domain. The solutions comprise intervention material for emergency services, mobile solutions to protect infrastructure, spill barriers, and water retention solutions. A great contributor to AGGERES’ success is the Self-Closing Flood Barrier (SCFB), an autonomous flood barrier which is activated solely by the pressure of upcoming floodwater. No energy source or human intervention is required. With zero operational costs the SCFB has none of the high ongoing expenditure associated with manually operated systems. When not in use, the barrier is protected underground, sheltered from the elements. The system has already been installed worldwide.
